Valley View Farm | A Chic New England Farm Wedding

Jul 27, 2021

I met Emma back in 2017 while working at a summer camp called Camp Uncommon. While most think of “camp” as a relaxing getaway from home, we know better; it involves 12-15 hour days with minimal breaks in between. After several weeks of this schedule, there is a tendency to get overly sentimental and loopy halfway through, which is why when Emma told me that one day I would be her wedding photographer, I hoped that it wasn’t a delirious moment, because I had the most fun running around campus with her. I didn’t have your typical college experience – I went to art school in Manhattan for one year, so the idea of a friendship in the midst of a crazy schedule and a college campus was thrilling to me. Little did I know that a little while later, I would, indeed, be photographing her chic New England farm wedding in Western Massachusetts.

When Emma and Greg got engaged, I was so excited that they asked me to photograph their wedding! After a full year of postponing, they finally got to celebrate with their friends and family on one of the hottest days of the year. Their venue, Valley View Farm, is the definition of laidback luxury, while also being a historic site that has been around since 1735. Located in Haydenville, MA, the farm and orchard features farm-to-table catering, on-site lodging, and warm hospitality. The Yellow Barn has incredible high ceilings, exposed beams, and is the perfect canvas for florals and decor, making it a dreamy, rustic, and chic spot to say “I do!” And did I mention the horses? So perfect for a fun and unique photo opportunity!

A Summer Wedding in New England

Emma and Greg were truly a joy to photograph! From their sweet first look moment to Greg’s first ever experience with the hora, the day and those surrounding Emma and Greg were full of love, fun, and happiness. Emma was a vision in her lace and tulle A-line gown by Watters, while Greg was looking sharp in his blue suit. Pro tip: Blue is a great alternative to black for a suit or tux when it comes to summer weddings! Besides the gorgeous green fields that played a major part in Emma and Greg’s photos, the couple opted for a color palette of crisp blue, shades of cream, and beautiful blush, which was fresh and perfect for the season. The white drapery softened the structure of the barn, making for an effortlessly stunning wedding space. Everything about this wedding truly checked off the boxes for a chic New England farm wedding.
